Projektové setkání na Budapest Business School

Ani pandemie nezmařila setkání účastníků projektu CORRAL, které se konalo ve dnech 10. až 12. ledna 2022 se na Budapest Business School v Maďarsku. Hlavním tématem mezinárodní konference byla internacionalizace a mezikulturní komunikace ve vzdělávání a cestovním ruchu.

Vysokou školu chemicko-technologickou reprezentoval Michael Diaz z Ústavu ekonomiky a managementu. Přednesl prezentaci o současných adaptivních technikách pro hodnocení nezápadních studentů v akademickém prostředí LSP  (Language for specific purposes). V rámci prezentace se účastníci dozvěděli o aktuálních zkušenostech čínských studentů a jejich učitelů v EFL (English as a foreign language) výuce zaměřené na přípravu studentů na zkoušku z angličtiny B2. Dalším tématem přednášky byly specifické problémy týkající se hodnocení studentů a kulturní adaptace studentů/učitelů.

Budoucí konference projektu CORRAL se bude věnovat tomuto aktuálnímu tématu hlouběji, protože internacionalizace vysokoškolského vzdělávání a potřeba lepší integrace nezápadních studentů v západním prostředí EFL je problémem, který pravděpodobně v blízké budoucnosti nezmizí.

A pandemic wasn’t enough to stop a meeting of the minds as a transnational discussion on internationalization and intercultural communication in education and tourism took place at Budapest Business School, Hungary on January 10-12 2022. 

With Covid regulations in force and his mask firmly in place, Michael Diaz of UCT School of Business in Prague, Czech Republic gave a presentation on current adaptive techniques for assessment of non-western students in LSP academic environments.  As part of the presentation, participants learned about the current experiences of Chinese students and their teachers in a Czech, EFL classroom focused on preparing students for a B2 English exam.  Course specific issues regarding student assessment and student/teacher cultural adaptation were discussed and analyzed in detail.  Further engagement took place as socially-distanced collaborative discussion and analysis regarding techniques for assessment and cultural adaptation took place amongst participants in an attempt to find workable solutions to the issues at hand. 

Future conferences of the CORRAL project will attempt to delve further into this field of study as the internationalization of higher education and the need for improved integration of non-western students in a western EFL environment is an issue that is unlikely to abate in the near future.
